SUMMARY:Maha Guru Bumtsok Prayer Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:This year’s Mahaguru Million Assembly\, as is the annual tradition at the Sera Jey Buddhist Cultural Institute in New York\, is dedicated to the general aim of promoting the precious teachings of the Buddha\, the source of all benefit and happiness\, and specifically to the flourishing of all the non-sectarian great traditions that have developed in the land of Tibet\, Snow Mountain. This includes the lives and activities of the supreme ornaments of the teachings\, the leaders of world peace\, His Holiness the Dalai Lama\, and other revered teachers of all traditions. It is also dedicated to the swift and early resolution of the Tibetan cause\, allowing the reunion of exiles and residents\, the enjoyment of happiness\, and the pacification of all harmful actions and intentions of humans and non-humans\, as well as the cessation of diseases\, famines\, and conflicts in this world. \n\n\n\nThe Maha Guru Bhumtsok is an annual\, multi-day Tibetan Buddhist prayer ceremony dedicated to Guru Padmasambhava\, primarily held to pray for the longevity of His Holiness the Dalai Lama\, the health of spiritual leaders\, and the resolution of the Tibetan issue. It involves offering 100\,000 feast offerings (tsok) to Padmasambhava. \n\n\n\nSignificance: It serves as a major community\, religious\, and political event for Tibetans in exile\, often aimed at promoting world peace and strengthening Tibetan culture. \n\n\n\nPurpose: The ceremony acts as a “Great Prayer and Feast Offering” within the Vajrayana tradition to secure the long life of the14th Dalai Lama and high-ranking lineage holders.

SUMMARY:Three Days Teaching on Guidance On The Foundation of All Good Qualities
DESCRIPTION:His Eminence Kyabje Khenzur Rinpoche\, Venerable Lobsang Delek Palzangpo\, graciously accepted the earnest request from the New York Sera Jey Center for Buddhist Studies to attend this year’s Saga Dawa Mahaguru Bhumtsok Offering. For three days\, he will bestow teachings on the “Yönten Zhikgyurma” from the “Jinglab Spungzhü\,” a renowned preliminary guidance on the common path. Additionally\, for two days\, he will confer the empowerment of the Avalokiteshvara Gyalwa Gyatso\, the deity to whom we are particularly devoted\, a swift path that allows one to attain the state of Vajradhara\, the union of bliss and emptiness\, within a single short lifetime of this degenerate age. We cordially invite all those who wish to partake in this sacred nectar of Dharma to seize this opportunity and join us. \nThe Foundation of All Good Qualities By Lama Tsongkhapa\nYön tän zhir gyur ma\nIn the 11th century\, Tibet was blessed by the arrival of the Indian Buddhist master Lama Atisha. Motivated to present an organized summary of the sutra teachings\, Atisha composed a short text entitled\, The Lamp of the Path. Three hundred years later\, Lama Tsongkhapa expanded upon this text with his opus The Great Exposition on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment (Lamrim Chenmo). The often referred to “Lam-Rim teachings” are taken from this seminal text. The teachings are presented in three scopes according to the  capacities of varying practitioners — small\, medium\, and great — which organize practices and meditations on the path into gradual stages. \nLama Tsongkhapa’s famous prayer\, The Foundation of All Good Qualities\, is the most concise and stirring outline available of the Lam-Rim teachings. In only fourteen stanzas\, Tsongkhapa offers us a prayer that covers the entire graduated path to enlightenment\, short enough to recite every day\, profound enough to study for a lifetime.
