On November 27th 2012, Sera Jey Monastic University (SJMU) has signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Tumkur University on academic collaboration in Buddhist Studies and Research Center. His Holiness the Dalai Lama has blessed the signing and exchange of MoU ceremony.
This is an historic event between SJMU, one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist Monastic Universities and Tumkur University, a modern Indian university on establishing an exchange program on Buddhist Studies. During this event, His Holiness gave a public talk titled 'A Human Approach to World Peace' at Tumkur University to its students, faculty members, researchers and policy makers. Tumkur University conferred an Honorary Distinguished Professorship on HH the Dalai Lama. His Holiness has inaugurated International Conference on Yoga in Education.
There were a number of distinguished guests presented both from Tumkur University and Sera Jey Monastic University (SJMU). From Sera Jey Monastic University, Jangtse Choeji Rinpoche, second head of Gelug tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, Khen Rinpoche Geshe Lobsang Delek, Abbot/President of Sera Jey Monastic University, Sera Mey Khen Rinpoche Geshe Nawang Jorden, Gyudmey Khen Rinpoche Geshe Tashi Tsering, Choeden Rinpoche, Dagri Rinpoche, Pare Rinpoche, Khangser Rinpoche, Chonkor Rinpoche, members of Sera Jey administration and other staff members were presented.
